So I got this wild hair today to start the process of digitizing our CD collection.
A few years ago, JoEll sat me down and had "the talk that men dread". She wanted to take my CD Collection (which, in my eyes, stood like a beautiful monolith to my taste in music) and stick it into a book.
I know that this makes perfect sense. And honestly, It normally takes me less time to pull something up on Rhapsody than it does for me to find the CD. But for some reason, I just liked having them.
I told her she could throw away all the jewel cases except for Obvious Special Additions, Queen, Tom Waits, Prince and a few others ....
We agreed and away they went.
That stupid book is the biggest pain in the ass now. I'm over the whole concept of owning Physical Copies of music. Booklets, Cases, Discs ... blech.
So I'm going through our CDs one at a time and importing each one. It's amazing how many things I have that aren't available on iTunes or anything. I have a ton of "our of print" Prince albums. Some aren't that great, but there are some real gems out there. I know that growing up a lot of my life in the "CD" era we didn't have the same emotional attachment as the Vinyl eras.
I digress, I'm just glad to get these things in my PC and step away from physical media. Don't get me wrong, I'll have it backed up and everything. But just not this stupid book of little discs.
Ok, back to work... I'm up to Bjork.... I've been doing this for HOURS.
