Cause you gotta have faith ....

People.

We all know my love/hate relationship with them.

Some people are just nasty. And that's the way they are. I honestly don't think that they know it either. I don't think they get up in the morning and decide that they are going to be shitty. It's the way they are. The way they were raised, the enviroment they were raised in. Whether we are talking about their family life, the city they were raised in or whatever. How a person comes up in this world decides how they are going to respond to society as a whole.

The world doesn't owe me shit. If I want something I have to go out there work for it. Don't get me wrong. I sit there and dream of that Big Lotto Check just like everyone else (even though it's even work for me to stop into the store to buy it, so I dream of winning even though I don't buy tickets). Some people wake up ready to complain because they live by the "Squeaky Wheel Gets the Grease" mentality. The world owes them something and they deserve to be treated better than most people because they aren't afraid to ask for it.

I'm of the "Squeaky Wheel Gets Replaced" mentality. Bitch enough and it's best if you just go.

On the other side of this: I had a lovely Frenchman come into my office and do everything but forcibly feed me a Dr. Pepper. He offered me one a few times yesterday, and like a dolt, I refused (I try not to drink too many sodas, it's the hardest addiction I have ever had to break). What I didn't realize, until he came in this morning, is what Dr. Pepper meant to him.

It seems that it can be rather hard to find in Europe if not downright impossible. He thinks it's the best soda ever and wanted to share this gem with me. Today, after I finished my lunch, I was able to find him and ask him if the offer for a Dr. Pepper was still open.

The look on his face was priceless. We sat down and enjoyed it together.

I don't have much faith in people. But it's nice to have it pop up occasionally.
