Most of you who know me personally, know that I hate flying. Most of the experience is just lost on me. I don't like the sensation of take off, I don't like people that much to be around that many of them for that long. I don't like the employess, the airports ... etc. etc. etc.
One thing I noticed though and took great comfort in this time around. As we took the little two hour flight from Key West to Atlanta, I was able to spend that time in a small place with a lot of people and not a damn one of them was yacking on a cell phone.
I know it's illegal to use your phone on a plane, and I also know that cell phone companies are lobbying to end this. You know, it's nice to have one place that you can't use the damn things. It's quieter on a plane than it is in a movie theatre, quieter than a church, than a library. People sitting next to eachother tend to talk quietly... especially in quiet places. People on cell phones tend to yell like they are talking into a tin can on a string. JoE and I had a nice dinner out the other night and during the meal the man a few tables away just had to talk to "Chuck".
People, please just step outside if you want to talk on the phone. I'd rather smell your cigarette than hear waht you have to say to "Chuck". JoE wants to go see Harry Potter, and to tell you the truth, I do too. But everytime I go to a movie, some asswipe's phone goes off. Tonight is the test, if one goes off tonight, I'm done. I'm going to save up and buy myself a nice TV. The Theatre experience is becoming overrated and over priced anyway. Our mainstream movie theatre down here sucks anyway. The Tropic, out arthouse is wonderful! The only thing is... rarely do they play something "fun". But you can get a beer and go see a movie which I find remakably civilized.
Ok, rant off, I'll post some Turkey Pics later today.
