Yesterday I gave the Green Parrot Bar some lip service. As establishments go, it is choice. It's big. Admittedly it also gets a bit smoky, but there are seats in the back that are a little bit better. It's cheap! I mean DAMN cheap. A Bud Light draft is $1.50. I know, I know, I can hear some of you now "that's $1.50 too much huh huh huh". My beer taste hasn't gone down, just the availability. It's not the kind of place you can walk into and pick up a Chimay. Anyway, a Makers on the rocks is $4.00 and it looks like a glass of ice tea.
Then there is the music. I mean damn. No cover, just good music. Last night was a woman named Alberta Adams ( http://members.aol.com/mnblues/alberta_adams.html ) Nothing more to say than holy shit. This woman is the real thing. She's old, needs help getting on the stage, sits down to sing, and just blows the room away. Imagine your grandmamma tearing up a bar with some serious soul, and you'd have Alberta Adams. I'm going to try and get down there again this evening and see her. If you hear of her playing anywhere near you, Buy a ticket. If it's $50, buy a ticket. She's worth it.
I'll try and write more a little later. Thanks everyone for hitting the site. A new camera is in the works soon. Then there will be a lot more pics.
I still got the blues from last night, and damn it feels good,
Landon
